About “Bathory”:
The House of Báthory or Báthori was an old and one of the most powerful Hungarian noble family founded by Briccius Bereck Báthory of the Gutkeled clan. The name means "of Bátor". The family rose to significant influence in Central Europe during the Late Middle Ages, holding high military, administrative and ecclesiastical positions in the Kingdom of Hungary. In the early modern period, the family produced several Princes of Transylvania and one King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania.
